Thangka is a painting usually depicting a Buddhist deity, famous scene, or mandala of some sort in which artist use either water color with real 24 kt gold paint or color made from minerals. The thankga is not a flat creation like an oil or acrylic painting. However, it consists of a picture panel which is painted or embroidered, over which a textile is mounted, and then over which is laid a cover, usually silk. Generally, thangkas last a very long time and retain much of their luster. Thangka?s are rich not only in their iconography, religious content and stylistic development, but also in terms of the materials and skills that the painters and their patrons lavish upon them. Buddha is described as the ninth incarnation of vishnu. Buddha is depicted in various forms in various places. His life is based on compassion for humanity, ideal of salvation, for the discipline of devotion and for the serving universe. Buddha attained transcedental wisdom and pointed out a way from world of sufferings to a beyond to to undying and for liberation across wisdom and beyond.
